I have a fetish. For lamps! Lighting is so key to setting the feel in a room because it creates so much ambiance. I even have a routine for when certain lamps are turned on in my house.
Like furniture, old lamps can be recycled too. The old ones are usually quite nice and solid, and heavy ! Like this one.
This is a big one! For reference, that the covered BBQ in the background!
Nice lines. Ugly finish. Nothing a little spray paint can’t handle!
Maybe a little sump’in else?
Silver Guilder’s Paste maybe?
The old shade seemed a little off scale.
How about a hand-tyed rag shade?
Despite the shadow in the pic, I like it!

beautiful. I am working on a couple lamps, I have never done them before so I hope they turn out as nice as yours.
I like the lamp painted so much better than the original finish. You did a wonderful job transforming that little treasure.
It's beautiful Maureen - what a great transformation - and that rag lamp shade?
Tutorial - please - please - please!!!
XOXO
Lighting is such an important part of a room and very few have enough lamps in them.
Maybe if more people realized what fun things you can do with old lamps they would use them more.
I love lamps too, and am on the lookout for a nice mid century one! Looks like you've been busy all summer, working your magic and transforming things. It's exactly what I would be doing if I had the space to do it!
Have a great week!
