Old Sugar Chest

While visiting a friend a few days ago she showed me some things she was working on and upcoming projects.   She showed me this wonderful old sugar chest and asked what I thought she should do to it?  Nothing!  Do NOT do a thing!

I offered to take it home and wash it up and put it in my shop.  “Really?” she said.  “Yes.  Let’s see what happens.” I said.  So I took it home and washed the sugar bin part.

Great find, so glad you talked her onto keeping it as is... Curious to see how much it goes for, I've never seen one of these before.....

I'm not sure what is is, but I do know that it is not a dry sink.

Thanks everyone.

Definitely not a dry sink. In addition to information from the woman I consigned it for, I did some research and it is has a metal storage bin in the top to store the very precious commodity....sugar.

It's a commode! To hold a chamber pot and possibly a bowl and ewer for washing!!
